Hufflepuffs, Rejoice!

Published September 14, 2013 by A. Featherquill

The Hufflepuff House must be very proud. Last September 12, it won the 4th Pottermore House Cup with 24, 915, 860 points, beating the 2nd placer Slytherin which garnered 24, 865, 387 points. Gryffindor came in 3rd with 24, 610, 105 points and last (but surely not the least in my heart) was Ravenclaw with 24, 567, 337 points.

Here’s a picture of the Great Hall taken from (Click this link to view the picture’s source and to read their post on the 4th House Cup):

Indeed, the Hufflepuffs aren’t afraid of toil and their hard work has paid off! As a reward, they will have advance access to the Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire once this adventure is released.

In my view, it is an apt and nice reward because it is the book wherein a Hufflepuff, Cedric Diggory, truly shines. As I have written in my second post, Cedric shows that Hufflepuffs can have much talent, intelligence, and boldness to reach their ambition. Sadly, he dies at the end of the fourth novel.

But do not be sad by the reference to Cedric’s untimely death for there is one more reason to rejoice.

Yesterday, it has been announced that Warner Bros. and J.K. Rowling will make a movie out of the book Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. Rowling will be writing the screenplay and she has confirmed that the hero of the film will be the book’s fictional author, Newt Scamander. As some of the Potter fans may know, Scamander is a Hufflepuff.

Gone are the days when people circulate jokes similar to this meme which I have found in (Click this link to go to the picture’s source):

Also, people cannot anymore say that only those who lack personality are put in this house. Being humble, loyal, and just does not mean being stupid, boring, weak, or unsuccessful.

Scamander disproves all those rude jokes because surviving adventures with beasts require much talent, intelligence, courage, and ambition. Unlike Cedric, he has lived long enough to work in the Ministry of Magic, become a Hogwarts Headmaster, and publish a book that will earn the status of being a required reading in school.

So, ‘Puffs, wear your yellow and black scarves with pride. You deserve all the recognition and I am genuinely happy for you. I have to admit that, if there was no Ravenclaw House, I would have chosen to be in Hufflepuff.

Please await my next post! In the meantime, remember to…

Stay magical,
A. Featherquill

    • Liebe Claudia,

Super! Ich freue mich von dir zu hören. Danke, dass du mein Blog liest. Ich hoffe, dass es dir gefällt. Gibt es noch ein Thema von Harry Potter, den du als Wunsch hättest?

      Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
      A. Featherquill

      • Danke für die Rückantwort! Kannst du über Cho und Harry bitte schreiben? Ich hätte gern gewusst, warum du glaubst, dass die Beziehung nicht gut gelaufen ist. glg

  • Wow! German! Amazing…wish i could understand.

Good job Hufflepuffs…I am a Slytherin….and actually glad I am. I am totally ambitious, crafty (and a little cunning), and can be so focused on my end goal that I do not see anything else going on… 🙂

Why are you a Ravenclaw A. Featherquill? how do you identify with them?

    • Claudia said I featured the news about Fantastic Beasts earlier than their newspaper. Haha!

Very glad to meet a Slytherin. I have some friends who identify with that house, too! 🙂

I have always identified with Ravenclaws. I like studying and can read for long hours – and I enjoy it. I can do something just for the sake of learning, even without a clear reward or no prestige in exchange of it. I have this strong passion to always discover something new. Recently, I have begun to pursue my creative side. Also, wisdom – not just intelligence – has always been something that I value greatly.

      • That is really cool!

My dad is a lot like that. He reads and studies just for the knowledge. 🙂 I think there is a little Ravenclaw in me somewhere but mostly…I’m a Slytherin. 🙂

  • Thanks for the nice words 😀 I’ve never seen that Scumbag Sorting Hat meme before, but it’s very funny xD And pretty apt, even if we’re moving away from that mentality now. I can’t wait until ‘Fantastic Beasts’ comes out in cinemas.
